Custom-cast replacement tiles when standard products are not enough

We produce custom-cast concrete slabs, replacement tiles, concrete countertops and details for projects where off-the-shelf products will not match the setting. That may mean an older kitchen, a 1940s floor, a heritage-sensitive environment or a new outdoor kitchen that still needs a specific visual direction.

The job is rarely just about pouring concrete. It is about matching size, edge profile, relief, tone, surface and overall character closely enough that the new part belongs in the space.

Replicating existing tiles with silicone molds

If an original tile still exists, we can often work from that reference. A silicone mold can capture dimensions, edge detail, relief and surface character closely, which is especially useful when a single damaged tile needs to be replaced without disturbing the rest of the floor or wall.

Color matching is more than just pigments

Pigments matter, but final appearance is also affected by cement tone, sand and aggregate, water content, compaction, surface finish and curing. That is why we rely on sample casting and comparison in natural light instead of guessing.

For new countertops and outdoor kitchens we can work across a wide color range, but the closer the visual target, the more important the sampling process becomes.

1940s Höganäs-style replacement tiles

At KA4 in Gothenburg we produced replacement tiles to match existing 1940s Höganäs-style slabs. The goal was visual continuity rather than an obvious new insert, which is exactly where sample-based custom casting makes the difference.

See the KA4 project case.

Concrete countertops for kitchens and outdoor kitchens

We also cast concrete countertops for indoor kitchens and outdoor kitchens. Here the brief often includes thickness, edge profile, cut-outs, visual direction, intended wear and whether the top will be exposed to weather. Indoor and outdoor use are not the same job, so the setup needs to reflect that.

How we work

  1. Reference review with photos, dimensions and, ideally, an original tile or clear reference surface.
  2. Assessment of what actually needs to be matched.
  3. Sample mold and sample casting where needed.
  4. Comparison and adjustment before final production.
  5. Final casting once finish and matching level are approved.

What to send us

Please send front-facing photos, close-ups of edges and surface texture, approximate dimensions, quantity and whether the project is indoors or outdoors. If a loose original tile exists, that makes early assessment much easier.

Contact us with the project details and we will propose the best setup.

Specialgjutning i Göteborg & norra Halland

Custom casting starts with the right reference

Tell us if the project is for replacement tiles, an indoor countertop or a countertop for an outdoor kitchen. Please share photos, close-ups of edges and surface, approximate dimensions and, ideally, whether an original reference tile exists.

Custom-cast Slabs & Countertops FAQ

Can you replicate an existing early-1900s or 1940s tile?

Often yes, provided there is a good reference tile or surface to work from.

A silicone mold can help us capture dimensions, relief, edge profile and surface character closely.

Can you make replacement tiles similar to older Höganäs-style tiles?

Yes. This is exactly the kind of project where custom casting is useful, especially when the goal is visual continuity rather than a generic replacement.

How do you match the color?

We use pigments, but also evaluate cement tone, aggregate, pores, finish and aging. Sample casting and comparison in natural light are essential.

Do you handle single replacement tiles?

Yes, single replacements and small series can be possible depending on the level of matching required and the quality of the reference.

Can you cast countertops for kitchens and outdoor kitchens in different colors?

Yes. We can work across a wide color range, but exact visual matching still requires sample casting.

What should I send you first?

Please send photos, approximate dimensions, quantity and close-ups of edge and surface texture. A loose original tile makes the first assessment much easier.
